Every year more people die by suicide than from all the wars and conflict around the world.
Livingworks Education Inc. has made a worldwide commitment to have 1,000,000 lifeguards trained in suicide intervention through our ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainings) program by 2010.
In today’s troubled times it has never been more important for ordinary people to have the skills necessary to help support each other by providing suicide first aid intervention.

How can you help achieve this goal?
- Go home and talk with your family about the training that is available
- talk to a friend about the time you had thoughts of suicide and how you got past that
- start discussions with your co-workers about how, as a group, we can support and encourage each other
- learn first aid intervention skills
- take a potential funder to dinner and talk about the need for suicide prevention
- ask your local faith group to get involved in an ASIST workshop
- talk to your friends, colleagues or family members about attending an ASIST workshop
- talk to your children’s coaches and teachers about joining an ASIST workshop
