Nick Barnes is an experienced housing law practitioner, having worked with national social welfare advice and support agencies for over fourteen years in the fields of housing, health and welfare benefits. Nick has a track record of successful outcomes working with people in acute need, and over many years has developed a reputation as a tenacious caseworker, working with integrity and passion, retaining his practice in social welfare to continuously enhance both forensic subject knowledge and training outcomes.
An experienced training consultant, Nick works with both national and local organisations and authorities, in addition to housing support providers and national law firms, to develop and deliver training programmes and initiatives, in a wide range of social care subjects, including health, housing, welfare benefits and debt/money advice.
Among Nick's many assets are his ability to impart learning of technical data in an easy-to-understand way, as well as his talent at engaging diverse and challenging groups regardless of the perceived 'dryness' of the subject matter, resulting in demonstrable register, retention and workplace transfer. A certified NLP practitioner, Nick's coaching, mentoring, and motivational learning skills have enhanced the development of lasting professional relationships with many of his trainee's and clients.
In addition to his work in welfare rights training and practice, Nick is currently delivering Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training throughout Wales, as part of 'Talk to Me', the Welsh Government's 'National Action Plan to Reduce Suicide and Self Harm in Wales' programme 2009-14, and throughout the Greater London area with the NfP social enterprise 'suicide-safer LONDON CIC'.
