Organize or sponsor a suicide to Hope workshop

The suicide to Hope (s2H) workshop is designed for clinicians and other professional helpers who are, or would like to be, involved in on going suicide care for people, once they are safe. It assumes that participants are familiar with suicide intervention and can provide suicide first aid. While LivingWorks’ ASIST program is not a prerequisite, it is recommended that s2H participants have already learned suicide first aid as it provides background for suicide to Hope’s learning processes and tools.

When you organize a suicide to Hope workshop, you will first want to get in touch with a suicide to Hope Facilitator in your area. If there aren’t any nearby, many of our s2H Facilitators around the world are willing to travel for this purpose.

Here are some of the essential features when organizing a suicide to Hope workshop:

  • The workshop must be held over one consecutive day (8 hours)
  • It must be conducted by an active facilitator
  • There should be between nine and 24 participants
  • A large room (with classroom style set-up) and audiovisual equipment is required.

Organizers typically introduce the facilitator at the start of the workshop. Organizers also usually collect participant fees and oversee financial matters. The facilitator will purchase the s2H Curriculum materials from LivingWorks and will inform the organizer of these costs.
